Drill is medium weight twill, between twill and gabardine. 45-degree diagonal, stronger than poplin, used for uniforms and workwear. British Army drill shorts famous.

Difference

Drill is lighter than gabardine but heavier than twill chino, diagonal less steep than gabardine 45 vs 63 degree.
